Mystery Process

There is a process called ES1000Server in my Activity Monitor today, I have never noticed it before.

The parent process is launchd. I’m using OS X 10.4.11.

I couldn’t find any info about it on Goojle or Altavista.

The only thing remotely Mac like in the search results is “ATI ES1000 video controller” but I have a GeForce 6600 in this Mac.

  1. Process Bookmarks…

Remmrit.com user has just tagged your post as process!…

  2. You could check the launchd config to maybe give clues as to what application installed it.

You could run lsof or ktrace on the pid to see what files (or sockets) it had open and determine if it is doing something nasty.

  3. AHA! (or “eureka” in greek) It is because I had installed Fiery’s ColorWise RIP admin software. The software is made to talk to the EFI ES-1000 spectrophotometer

or see http://www.chromaticity.com/files/ES-1000Datasheet.pdf which I didn’t get bundled with our low-grade Fiery X3e RIP.
